Samuel Dangerfield was the youngest son of Thomas Dangerfield. Samuel, and
wife, Alethia (George) were both born in Devizes, Wiltshire, England. The
family emigrated to North America in the 1830's. They appeared in the 1840
New York Federal census in Madrid Township, St. Lawrence county. The family
subsequently emigrated to Oxford Mills in what today is in Ontario, Canada.
Samuel and his family farmed there during the 1840's and 1850's. After which
he, his wife and a number of his children emigrated to Denmark township in
Minnesota.

Samuel (1811 - 1883) and Alethia (1807 - 1893) and their family emigrated
to Denmark township in Minnesota in the late 1850s. Their children were:

Sara (b. 1837) married Frederick Stotesbery in Hastings, Minnesota in
1859.
Ann (b. 1841) married Ambrose Stotesbury in Canada in 1857. They were
the parents of:
Alfred (1858 - unknown) was born in Minnesota. (Alfred's birth provides
a date for their first appearance in Minnesota.)
Samuel settled in Pomeroy, Iowa.
Frederick settled in North Dakota.
Samuel Dangerfield's life in Denmark township:
In a "History of Washington County and the St. Croix Valley" by
Rev. Edward Neil, it is reported that Samuel Dangerfield purchased a piece
of land and house from Thomas Paley and in 1874 and built an addition which
became a general merchandise store.
After two successful years the store is reported to have burned down.
Samuel Dangerfield died in 1883 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. His wife, Alethia,
returned to Oxford Mills, Ontario where she died in 1893.
