Jacob lived in Canaan after the time Moses led the Israelites from Egypt. Jacob had twelve sons. He was saddened when his wife Rachel, whom he loved very much, died. Rachel was the mother of his two youngest sons, Joseph and Benjamin.

Jacob's favorite son was Joseph and he gave him a present which was a lovely coat of many colors. It has become perhaps the most famous coat of all time. Even a recent broadway play celebrates it.
